Chain Breakage Monitoring for Curve Conveyor
The LUBING chain breakage monitoring system for the curved conveyor is a control system specifically designed for use with the LUBING Curve Conveyor.
The chain breakage monitoring system constantly monitors the operation of the conveyor chain to detect any breaks while the system is in operation.
Thanks to the chain breakage monitoring system, it is possible to minimize egg loss and damage to the conveyor system, since the system shuts down the entire conveyor system and takes it offline if necessary (in the event of a chain break).
The system consists of two position switches with adjustment roller levers.
For longer conveyor sections, you can add additional switches as needed.
As a general guideline, you can plan for two switches for each drive unit.
ADVANTAGES
- Early detection of problems: thanks to continuous monitoring of the conveyor chain, it is possible to detect chain breaks at an early stage before they cause serious malfunctions or breakdowns.
- Minimising downtime: by automatically stopping the conveyor in the event of a broken chain, the system prevents prolonged downtime and costly repairs.
- System protection: the chain breakage monitoring system protects the entire conveyor system from damage that could be caused by a chain break, thereby extending its service life.
- Improved operational safety: the implementation of a reliable monitoring system enhances employee safety, as potential hazards can be detected and eliminated at an early stage.
- Cost-effectiveness: reducing yield losses and repair costs through prompt action contributes to the cost-effectiveness of operations.
- Easy integration: chain break monitoring can be integrated into existing systems and is adaptable to different system sizes and configurations.
- Maintenance optimisation: monitoring enables targeted maintenance planning, as problems can be identified before they cause serious disruptions.
Operation
One switch controls the lower chain ➀ and another controls the upper chain ②, the roller levers slide along the conveyor chain while the system is running.
In the event of a malfunction (chain break), the roller levers return to the zero position because the position switches can no longer detect the conveyor chain: the conveyor system stops.

Position switch during normal operation.

The upper chain position switch has been triggered due to a broken chain.
